FAQs – Wedding Photography & Videography in Portugal

Everything You Need to Know About Wedding Photography & Films in Portugal

• Do you photograph and film weddings across Portugal?

Yes. We are based in the Algarve, but we regularly document weddings throughout Portugal, including Lisbon, Sintra, the Alentejo and other destination wedding locations. We are used to working at private villas, elegant estates, coastal venues and historic properties across the country.

• Are you based in the Algarve?

Yes. We live and work in the Algarve, which means we know the region well — from light and weather to venues, travel times and how wedding days here tend to flow. That local knowledge helps us work calmly and efficiently while still creating natural, atmospheric photographs and films.

• How would you describe your approach?

Our approach is natural, unobtrusive and story-driven. We do not over-direct or stage your day. Instead, we observe carefully, step in when needed with gentle guidance, and focus on creating images and films that feel honest, timeless and emotionally true.

• Do you work with additional photographers or videographers?

For most weddings, it is just the two of us. We have found that this keeps the atmosphere calm, unobtrusive and personal, while also allowing us to document the day in a consistent way.

Depending on the collection, we work either as two photographers or as a photo and video team, with Maria leading photography and Sandy leading videography. We prefer not to bring a larger crew unless it genuinely adds value, as too many people can be distracting and take up unnecessary space during intimate moments.

That said, for larger weddings, or celebrations where extra coverage would be beneficial, we can absolutely bring a trusted additional photographer, videographer or assistant. We only do this when it helps us cover the day better and ensures that nothing important is missed.

• Do you help couples who feel awkward in front of the camera?

Yes — and that is very common. Most of our couples are not used to being photographed or filmed, so we keep things relaxed and guide you in a natural way. Nothing is overly posed, and you never need to perform for the camera.

• Do you offer both wedding photography and videography?

Yes. You can book us for photography, videography, or both together. Many couples choose both so the visual style feels consistent across the full story of the day. If you are looking for wedding photography and videography in Portugal, we can create a seamless experience from start to finish.

• Do you use drone footage?

Yes, when location, weather, timing and local regulations allow it. Drone footage can add atmosphere and a stronger sense of place, especially for weddings in the Algarve and across Portugal. We only use it when it genuinely adds to the story and when it can be done safely and legally.

• Do you record vows and speeches for wedding films?

Yes. Clear audio is a big part of an emotional wedding film, so we carefully record key parts of the day such as vows, speeches and other important moments whenever possible.

• Can you help with the timeline for the day?

Yes. We are happy to advise on timing, light and how much space different parts of the day need. A good timeline helps everything feel more relaxed and gives you better photographs and film.

• How do you handle family photos?

We approach family photographs with the same calm and organised mindset we bring to the rest of the day. Before the wedding, we recommend creating a short list of the most important group combinations so everything feels clear and efficient. On the day, we guide the process gently and keep it moving, allowing you to spend less time organising people and more time enjoying your celebration.

• Do you work with wedding planners and venues?

Yes. We regularly work alongside planners, coordinators, venues and creative teams. Good communication is a big part of how we work, and we are always happy to collaborate so the day runs smoothly while still keeping the focus on genuine moments.

• What happens if it rains on the wedding day?

In Portugal this is quite unlikely but we always adapt. Rain changes the plan, but it does not stop meaningful photographs or a beautiful film. We stay calm, work with the conditions and make the most of the atmosphere the day gives us.

• How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book us around 12 to 24 months in advance, especially for popular dates between May and October. If you already have your venue and date, it is worth getting in touch sooner rather than later, as we only take a limited number of weddings each year.

• How many weddings do you take each year?

We keep the number of weddings we take on intentionally limited. That allows us to give each couple the time, attention and care their photographs and film deserve, both on the wedding day and throughout editing.

• When will we receive our images and film?

Your photographs are carefully edited and delivered within approximately 8–12 weeks. Wedding films are completed within up to 4 months. We take time with each project to ensure a refined and cohesive final result.

• Do you travel internationally?

Yes. While Portugal is our main focus, we are available for selected international weddings as well. If you are planning a celebration abroad and feel connected to our work, feel free to get in touch.

• How does the booking process work?

Once you enquire, we will first confirm availability. From there, we usually arrange a short call or continue by email, depending on what feels easiest for you. When you are ready to move forward, your date is secured with a signed agreement and retainer.
